What  Hapkido can teach us

 Hapkido teaches a range of techniques largely developed for self-defence and the defence of others. Hapkido also provides a framework for the development of the character through the integration of mental, physical, and spiritual values.

Physical Hapkido techniques are characterised by a constant flow of striking, blocking, holding, and  throwing techniques.

  

Hapkido integrates 8 key areas :

8.     Internal techniques (meditation, breathing, internal energy development)

 

In Hapkido , the techniques of circular redirection of attack are initiated with a combination of hand and foot strikes followed by shorter locking and pinning movements, resulting in a direct response to the attack. The emphasis in Hapkido is initially on physically invigorating movements, blocks, strikes and kicks, suitable for younger more energetic students.
